Sariska Tiger Reserve Rajasthan

Sariska Tiger Reserve – established as a sanctuary in 1958 and in 1979 was taken up under the Project Tiger, was once the personal hunting ground of the Maharaja of Alwar. It covers an area of 765 sq. km. (with a core area of 480 sq km) dominated by sharp cliffs and narrow valleys of the Aravalis.

Sariska Tiger Reserve is an Indian national park located in Alwar District of Rajasthan State. Being a part of Aravali Mountain Range, the area of Sariska is rich in mineral resources, such as copper.

Some of the wildlife found in the Sariska Tiger Reserve is: Bengal Tiger, leopard, jungle cat, caracal, striped hyna, golden jackal, chital, sambhar, nilgai, chinkara, four-horned antelope (Chousingha), wild boar, hare, hunuman Langur, Rhesus monkeys and plenty of bird species and raptiles. In birds – grey partridge, bush quail, sand grouse, tree pie, golden-backed woodpacker, crested serpent eagle and the Great Indian Horned Owl.
